Appreciating what we have achieved can make it possible to  rise above our long-term happiness level, or “set point,” new studies have shown.  Check out Staying happy is a matter of wanting to, reprinted in

St. Paul’s  Star Tribune.

 

A main tool for me for appreciating all the good things in my life is  Sarah Ban Breathnach’s concept of Gratitudes. Each evening, when I lay my head on the pillow, I list 5-10 things I’m grateful for. I’ve been doing this for some years & it helps. (Writing them is even better).
