Sleep Away Those Pounds – for midlife women

Sleep deprivation, one of my favorite ‘soapboxes’, affects our health profoundly in many ways. When I was in my late teens my father used to tell me I was “burning the candle at both ends” in regard to my staying out late frequently and having to go to work the next day. The expression was so descriptive and so visual that it sticks with me today. Naturally I paid no heed to the warning! Now of course my tune has changed and sleep is very important to me. I like to get a good sleep each and every night if possible so I’ll feel decent facing my day. But I know that many other women, who have more responsibilities and a more demanding lifestyle than I do, can’t or don’t always do so. And it can take a heavy toll over time.
